Elizabeth Van Vleck is a certified Pilates instructor through both Power Pilates as well as Core Pilates NYC. She is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. A Personal Trainer since 1987, Ms. Van Vleck has trained celebrities, television personalities, US government officials and European royalty and dignitaries. She has traveled extensively working in Italy, France, Morocco, Switzerland and the Dominican Republic. She is holds a certificate as a Senior Personal Trainer from the American Senior Fitness Association. In 1996, she became certified through the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer. That same year, Ms. Van Vleck graduated Magna Cum Laude from the City University of New York's celebrated Baccalaureate Program with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.
Ms. Van Vleck danced professionally for over fifteen years. With the Shapiro & Smith Dance Company she was a dancer, teacher as well as their rehearsal director setting their works on professional dance companies as well as college, university and other academic dance programs.
In NYC, Ms. Van Vleck was a Teaching Artist for The National Dance Institute under the leadership of Jacques d'Amboise and Ellen Weinstein. In addition to working with public school elementary students in New York City, with NDI, she worked with Mobile Dancers/Dancers in Chairs, teaching and creating dance for children in wheelchairs.
In addition to conducting Teacher Training workshops for the New York City Ballet Workout, Elizabeth Van Vleck was a Teaching Artist for the New York City Ballet Education Department for five years. She taught for both the Ballet Bridges Program as well as the NYC Ballet Workout High School Program, working with elementary and high school students and teachers throughout the NYC public school system.
Ms. Van Vleck is currently enrolled at SUU in an MFA Arts Administration program. With this degree she hopes to continue her life-long support of the arts in a new way. She is extremely happy to have met Melanie and incredibly tranquil and inspiring environment of Sage Hills Yoga and looks forward to continuing her love of health, healing, and fitness with all the wonderful people she has yet to encounter. |
